Shortlist John Moores Painting Prize 2018
Building a conversation between the materiality of paint and how it can be structured while exploring its limitless mark making possibilities are the focal concerns of Drennan’s work.
Her practice is an exploration into how a painting is created. Constant empirical dialogues where, disruptively painted elements debate with each other, offer a displaced ever- evolving visual impulse.
Employing a technique based on a system of painted layers accompanied by processes involving masking, the paintings demonstrate the perspective, as well as the consequence of each mark concluding a constant state of flux.
Drennan holds a MA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, UAL, UK and a BA Fine Art [First Class Hons] from CCAM, IRE. She is the recipient of the Freyer Award in recognition of excellence for painting from the Royal Dublin Society Art Awards, the Good Art Guides 2017 cover artist winner and was listed as ‘one to watch’ in State Magazine [issue 23]. Drennan was the featured artist for Fujitsu’s most recent ad campaign.
